12 Ways to Revitalize Your Space (Without Spending a Ton)
Feeling stuck or bogged down by your environment? Here are a few quick, easy and inexpensive (if not free!) ways to achieve a feeling of fresh newness and expansiveness in your space… Enjoy!
1) Reposition Furniture - play around with trying out different chairs, loveseats, tables, etc. in different places. Try reconfiguring your living space or dining space, or swapping the purpose of a room altogether. Experimentation is a surefire way to breathe new energy into any space.
2) Reorganize - sounds less fun than it is, but the payoff is tremendous. Especially effective in kitchen cabinets, closets & linen closets, bathrooms, laundry spaces, entryway closets and tool organization zones... These are areas we experience so frequently, having them decluttered, cleaned out and organized with more intention creates the most satisfying positive long-term impact on mood.
3) Deep Clean - with so much time at home, and if going through this process you’re already knee deep in your belongings, take a few minutes to give everything a good wipe down. Dust is an added layer of weight in a space, and contributes to negative energy. Try making a game out of it - with or without kids!
4) Fresh Greenery - I harp on this one a lot, but the liveliness fresh florals or plants breathe into a space is unparalleled.
5) Change Up Bedding - if you have alternative duvet covers or pillow cases, try changing up a room’s vibe by accessorizing beds with different linens.
6) Change Up Towels - same goes for a bathroom… if you have an alternative set of colored towels/mats, etc., try swapping them out for a refreshed look.
7) Repurpose Décor - applies to anything that lives out in the open: consider moving it around. Books, candles, vases, glassware, sculptures, art, flowers, plants, etc. Try putting some stuff away, or reintroducing other things that have been stored in your cabinets for awhile. This is particularly energy-shifting when applied to open shelving displays, tablescapes, coffee or side tables, etc.
8) Open Windows - flooding your space with fresh air does a world of good.
9) Light a Candle - whether it’s midday or later in the evening, scent has a powerful way of reawakening our senses.
10) Paint or Wallpaper - this is one requires a bit more effort, however there is no denying the strong impact it can have on the feel of a space. Even in the smallest areas, experimenting with a different color or wallpaper can have the biggest impact.
11) Sage Smudge - admittedly I have never done this in my own space because I don’t love the scent… but, burning a cluster of sage has been long used to cleanse energy within spaces.
12) Swap Photos in Frames - sometimes our beloved pictures get boring to look at. Not that we don’t love the people or things in them, but with the abundance of photos we all take these days, the supply is endless. Try having some updated pictures (or even old ones but not currently on display) printed to take the place of some of what’s existing in the frames.
There you have it - hang in there friends!!
Until next time,
